How to Troubleshooting Data Sync Failures

If your workout appears in the Zepp Watch but is missing from Strava, please follow these steps to troubleshoot the connection.

1. Check for Sync Delays

Data synchronization is not instant. Before assuming the connection is broken, please check the following:

  • Watch to APP First: Ensure the workout has fully synced from your watch to the Zepp APP Workout page. If it's not on the Zepp APP Workout screen, it cannot be sent to Strava.
  • Server Processing: Once the data is in Zepp, allow 1–5 minutes for our servers to push the data to Strava.
  • Refresh: Pull down on the Strava activity feed to refresh the list.

2. Understanding Sync Rules

Unlike some other platforms, Strava has a specific rule regarding historical data:

  • The 14-Day Rule: When you first connect your account, Zepp will automatically attempt to sync activities from the past 14 days (2 weeks).
  • Older Data: Activities older than 14 days prior to the connection date will not be synced automatically. You must use the manual export method for these records.

3. Force a Re-sync (Unlink & Re-link)

If a recent activity (within the last 14 days) failed to upload, the connection token may have expired. Resetting the connection often triggers a re-sync.

  1. Open Zepp APP > Home > Profile (top-right) > 3rd-party account linking.
  2. Tap Strava and select Unlink.
  3. Force close the Zepp APP.
  4. Clear the cookies in your phone's default browser.
  5. Return to the menu and Link Strava again.
  6. Wait for about 1-5 minutes and check your Strava activity feed.

4. Manual Export (For Missing or Old Data)

If automatic sync fails or if you need to transfer data older than 2 weeks, use the manual export feature:

  1. Open the Zepp APP and tap on the workout activity you want to upload.
  2. Tap the More (...) button in the top-right corner.
  3. Select Export Data.
  4. Choose TCX format.
  5. Save the file to your phone's storage (or email it to yourself).
  6. Log in to the Strava Website via a browser.
  7. Click the "+" icon (top right) > Upload Activity > File.
  8. Select the TCX file you just exported.
